| The Masonic Fellowship Discussion Group evolved from an idea by several officers
of Covenant-Myrtle Lodge (now Old Glory Lodge No. 141). Recognizing an urgent need to
improve communications among Masons and Masonic lodges in the area, during the summer of
1994 Covenant-Myrtle hosted an informal roundtable discussion meeting to which brethren
from neighboring lodges were invited. Following up on the success of this and subsequent
roundtable meetings led to the establishment of a more formal organization -- the Masonic
Fellowship Discussion Group -- in January of 1995. The group meets six times a year on Saturday mornings for Breakfast /Discussion Meetings at 7:30 am. The meetings alternate among various Masonic Temples in the Chicago area with individual lodges as sponsors or hosts. Currently more than 25 lodges are represented at the Discussion Group's Meetings and notices of our meetings are mailed to the approximately 200 Master Masons who have attended at least one of the meetings in the past two years. Although originally established to provide a forum to discuss lodge problems and ideas to solve them, the Masonic Fellowship Discussion Group has embarked on a number of special projects, most of which came out of discussions at its regular meetings. Among these activities:
The Masonic Fellowship Discussion Group is completely self-supporting and relies on contributions from its members and participating lodges. |
